A blog update for you all!! Three beautiful blankets complete and already with their new owners. Thankyou once again for your wonderful contributions, so many amazing squares!! Special mention must be made to the ladies who put extra work in; all those who turned up for the joining evenings as well as Johanna and Julie for working on borders. We'd also like to thank Natalie for creating such special poems that we could send along with these blankets to our recipients. I've added them for you below, I'm sure you will appreciate them as much as we do!
So now here are a collection of images of the process, and the finished blankets, hope you enjoy!

My 2 little supervisors making sure everything is done properly during the arranging of the squares
The 'classic' blanket, arranged with the large squares in the centre, and bordered by the smaller granny squares.
The 'spice' blanket, alternating rows of grannies and large squares

the 'hot chilli' blanket, each large square separated by grannies.
once the border was put on, the blankets had a good wash and block to get them looking square
This one even got a road test!
All 3 of them together!
boxed and ready to go.
Squares with Prayers
Crochet
hooks;
soft, soft
yarn;
hands that
dance and weave,
forming squares of harmony –
for you.
Prayerful hearts;
heartfelt
sighs;
mouths
that pray and plead,
calling
out to God in unity –
for you.
Just as this blanket can
be wrapped around you
So, too,
our prayers surround you…
and so, too,
God’s warm embrace,
God’s
loving arms,
God’s
everlasting arms,
will encompass
you,
hold you,
comfort
you…
and never
let you go!
As well as a poem written specifically for the recipients of these 3 blankets.
At a time like this,
when empty places leave a huge, gaping hole,
and the raw pain of loss tears at your soul…
our words fail,
but God’s stand forever (Isaiah 40:8);
our love fails,
but His fails you never (Rom 8:39).
And so we pray…
…that when the tears are endless
and your hearts and minds ache,
you’ll know your Father loves you, (Psalm 103:13)
completely, for Christ’s sake.
…that when you’re broken and empty,
and overtaken by grief,
He will never forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)
but will grant you relief.
… that through the turmoil and questions,
through the sorrow and pain,
He’ll quiet you with his love (Zeph 3:17)
again and again.
